Libya participates in the meeting of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs in Bahrain

The Ministry of Social Affairs of the Government of National Unity was represented by an official delegation headed by the Undersecretary for Institutional Affairs, Hatem Zaghil, and with the participation of the Ministry’s social expert, Ali Faraj, in the preparatory meeting of senior officials for the forty-fourth session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, which was held in the Bahraini capital, Manama.

The meeting witnessed “discussion of a number of pivotal topics on the agenda, most notably disability issues, support for productive families, and preparations for the Arab Development Summit and the World Summit on Disability.”

The meeting resulted in “the selection of Libya as a member of the Executive Council of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, in addition to agreeing to host Libya for a high-level symposium on implementing the Arab Strategy for the Elderly, within the activities of the Arab Fund for Social Action.”

The Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs is one of the specialized organizations affiliated with the League of Arab States, and works to coordinate social policies among member states, in order to achieve regional integration in the areas of social development, combating poverty and disability, and supporting the most needy groups. The Council also contributes to strengthening joint Arab action through Launching initiatives and programs aimed at achieving sustainable development and improving the quality of life in Arab countries.”
