Goheung-gun was selected for the nation’s largest ‘Smart Agriculture Promotion District Designation’ contest. Goheung-gun (Governor Gong Young-min) announced on the 24th that it was selected for the ‘Smart Agriculture Promotion District’ contest hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and that a 64ha smart farm horticulture complex, including Goheung Smart Farm Innovation Valley in Jeollanam-do, was designated as a cultivation district.
This contest was first launched last July when the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ Smart Farming Act was promulgated, and with the participation of local governments across the country promoting the smart farm industry as a future strategic industry, Goheung-gun was selected as the 1st candidate by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs after intense preparation and competition starting in January of this year. After a face-to-face evaluation and a second on-site evaluation, Goheung-gun was the only one selected with 64ha, the largest area in the country, in the area designated as a foster district.
This fostering district aims to establish a base for the expansion of smart farms at the regional level by expanding the influx of young farmers and integrating forward and backward industries such as smart farms and processing and distribution facilities centered on agricultural corporations. It includes a large-scale smart farm start-up complex (20ha) and a smart horticulture complex (11ha) that have already been selected by the Ministry.

With this evaluation, following the award for three consecutive years starting in 2022, this year’s results were the best ever, and the county’s preemptive population decline response policy achievements have been highly evaluated both internally and externally.
The population policy evaluation targets 22 cities and counties in Jeollanam-do every year and awards cities and counties that have actively discovered and implemented population policies, such as ▲efforts to overcome population problems, ▲policy improvement, and ▲promotion outcomes. This creates an atmosphere of participation in overcoming population problems and provides examples of best practices. We are working to spread it.
