BOLZANO. Moments of fear last night (22 December) around 11pm in Bolzano. A crew of the Police Cars, passing towards Via Galilei, noticed a white van coming out at breakneck speed from via Avogadro, performed a sudden maneuver and entered via Galilei against traffic. The police gave chase with sirens blaring.

Once it reached Via Pacinotti, at the height of the Palermo Bridge, sensing that it had no further exit routes, the van abruptly stopped moving and the two individuals on board, seeing themselves hunted, fled on foot in two different directions.

The policeman who was chasing one of the two, as they were climbing onto the Palermo Bridgehe noticed the criminal turning towards him twice, placing his right hand in the pocket of the jacket he was wearing. The officer, fearing that a firefight could ensue, ordered him to stop by exploding several shots in the air with his service pistol. The man, however, continued his escape in the direction of the ““Arginale” which runs along the Isarco river, losing track of himself, while the second man, having reached Via Pacinotti, also managed to disappear into the surrounding area.

From the checks carried out it emerged that the Fiat Ducato had been stolen shortly before via Zuegg: the thieves had taken advantage of the fact that it had been parked unlocked with the keys placed under the sun visor.

Investigations are underway by the Flying Squad and the Scientific Police to clarify the exact dynamics of the affair and identify the two responsible.
