Bayern’s substitute goalkeeper has a clear goal after his appearance against Leipzig. He wants to be Manuel Neuer’s successor.
Daniel Peretz was in goal for FC Bayern in the game against Leipzig and enjoyed it. After the national goalkeeper had to miss a game in Bayern’s game against Leipzig due to a broken rib, Peretz was between the posts. Now he has announced that he feels comfortable there, not only in training, but also wants more.
“The reaction of the fans to my games was incredible. The love and support felt fantastic,” said the substitute goalkeeper in an interview with “Bild”. He had to wait a long time to be deployed. “It’s not easy to be back at full strength after 12 or 14 months without any match practice. But I had always prepared myself for this moment in my head,” said the keeper, who came to Munich in 2023.
If Neuer is fit again next year, the Israeli will likely be back on the bench. But after the 5-1 win against Leipzig it was clear to him: “The hunger for more has been awakened,” he told “Bild”.
His dream is clear: he wants to be number 1 at FC Bayern. He is not afraid of following in Neuer’s footsteps. “That’s my goal and I’m working hard for it,” he said. That’s why he would rather continue training at FC Bayern at least until the summer than go out on loan. The club management is satisfied with his performance.
So far it looks like Neuer will extend his contract until 2026. Peretz could then use this time to gain match practice by going on loan to another club. First of all, he’s taking a Christmas break with his family in Tel Aviv, then he wants to show again in Munich that he’s at least number 2 in goal.
