“It highlights the role that women have in humanity, but particularly in the fight for emancipation and for the rights of indigenous peoples,” said the president.
From the National Palace, Diego Prietodirector of National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH)indicated that a selection of emblematic female figures of indigenous peoples was made.
“It is always customary to dedicate the year to some figure, a character or some expression of Mexican culture and in this case, the year 2025 will be dedicated to indigenous women. In the last days of September, a constitutional reform was approved that recognizes indigenous and native peoples as subjects of law,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the director of the INAH, Diego Prietor, showed the emblem image of the Government of Mexico for him 2025, where four women appear, each one from a different indigenous group.

“Four women were chosen to appear in the emblem corresponding to the year 2025, a Mexica woman, a Mayan woman, a Mixtec woman and a Toltec woman,” he concluded.
