On EBS1 at 9:55 pm on December 24th [건축탐구 집] The episode ‘If the picture I drew became a house’ will be broadcast.
A house that was renovated by drawing it by hand
A country house village in Yongin Special City, Gyeonggi-do. In this village, where most houses are made of white light wood, there is one house that stands out with its all-black exterior. This chic and attractive house is where husband Byeong-ju Yoon, vocalist and guitarist of a rock band, and his wife Eui-hyeon Lee live.
Living in a house has been a long-time dream of my husband, Byeong-ju. He said he was tired of the communal living in the apartment and the noise between floors… In particular, the noise made by another musician who lived upstairs was the main reason why he desperately wanted to move to a house. However, Ui-hyeon, who lived in a house for nearly 30 years before getting married, was very aware of the shortcomings and inconveniences of housing, so she opposed it at first, and even when she decided to move according to her husband’s wishes, she assured her husband that she would not be able to endure it in 1-2 years.
Since I couldn’t afford to build a new house, I started living in an old house that was over 20 years old by renting it out. My first impressions of this house, which I found in a hurry during the expiration of my contract, were ‘it looks like a hideous house’ and ‘it looks like a shabby house’. Mr. Ui-hyeon, who likes to decorate the house beautifully, even while living in a leased house, he kept it as pretty as if it were his own. The landlord, who saw that Mr. Ui-hyeon took care of the house with affection, suggested that he would like to sell the house to the couple, and after much consideration after the end of the lease, they decided to buy the house. I ended up buying it.
Mr. Ui-hyeon, who had already lived in this house for three years and knew exactly what the pros and cons of this house were, started renovating the house by drawing pictures on paper as soon as he owned it as his own. Starting with tearing out the eaves that were long and low and frustrating, changing the structure of the master bedroom dressing room and bathroom, which had no ventilation, and even opening up the second floor, which had blocked off spaces, to create a music room… With Mr. Eui-hyeon’s sense and skill, Let’s explore a house that was once a haunted house but was reborn brightly.
A house drawn in Excel by a civil servant husband
In a quiet rural village in Yesan-gun, South Chungcheong Province, where the spacious Sapgyo Plain spreads out, there are two houses built side by side with similar materials and a similar feel. The two houses, a single-story and a duplex, respectively, are the parents’ house and the son’s house built ‘separately and together’ within the same fence. The person who designed this house was his son and husband, Cho Hee-jun. Heejun, who works as a public servant at the Office of Education, built a house by drawing a drawing using Excel, which he is always familiar with at the office…
First of all, it was nice to draw the desired floor plan in Excel, but there are too many three-dimensional parts in architecture that cannot be realized on a flat surface. After having difficulty designing wall thickness, etc., he mastered 3D modeling through the recommendation of a friend who works as a carpenter.
In consideration of the mother-in-law’s relationship, which may be a little uncomfortable living in a single fence, both houses were built facing south, but no windows were installed on the side facing each other’s house, and the entrance was slightly turned to reduce concerns about each other’s comings and goings. We paid special attention when designing our parents’ house so that they could spend their golden years in a more pleasant and comfortable home. We not only designed the cypress wood interior to be conducive to their health, but also installed a masonry bathtub for my parents who like to take a bath. A skylight was built above it to add charm.
There are traces of small errors hidden in the son and his wife’s home. When I first moved in, I experienced a ‘ghost disturbance’ at 3 a.m. due to a short circuit due to not covering the doorbell. I raised the stairs to make room for the washing machine, but I miscalculated the width, so the washing machine couldn’t fit, so I had to install a small washing machine. I also went through the twists and turns of replacing it with . There was also a funny(?) situation where the bathroom window on the second floor was installed backwards, so that when the window was opened, it touched the shower head.
There are many traces of minor mistakes and errors, but because it is a special house designed and built by a non-expert just for the family, the entire family is very attached to the house. Let’s explore Heejun’s Love House, which celebrated its one-year anniversary since moving in during the cold winter of last year.
