Christmas message from both parties
The ruling and opposition parties released Christmas messages with different temperatures on the 25th. Floor leader Kwon Seong-dong, acting leader of the People Power Party, said that the National Assembly should return to its original intention of praying for the people’s livelihood and peace, and Lee Jae-myeong, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, mentioned the ‘darkness of civil war’ and said that the light of hope for a new country is clearer. He said it was getting worse.
Floor leader Kwon said on Facebook this morning, “At a time when we should be sharing the joy of Christmas, our steps are heavy,” and “Our National Assembly cannot raise its head in front of the teachings of Jesus, who told us to spread love to our neighbors in despair and disappointment.” I raised it. It appears to refer to the extreme confrontation and conflict between the ruling and opposition parties taking place in the National Assembly.
He continued, “Our politics must return to the earnest intention of praying for people’s livelihood and peace in the first National Assembly after liberation,” and added, “I pledge to give hope to the people, peace to society, and stability to the country.” He said, “I pray with both hands that the light of Christmas hope can spread throughout Korea.”
Representative Lee also posted on Facebook the same morning, “I pray with an earnest heart. “If Jesus comes to this land now, I hope he will be with our people who are driving away the darkness of civil war with the small light they hold in their hands.” “I do it,” he said.
At the same time, he said, “It is not easy to fall asleep, and as the quiet and holy nights continue, the light of hope for a new country is becoming clearer,” and pledged, “I will fulfill my political responsibility to ensure that the people’s Christmas is celebrated in their daily lives.” He expressed political responsibility for the 12/3 martial law situation as the ‘darkness of civil war’.
Leaders of the ruling and opposition parties, including floor leader Kwon and Lee, attended the Christmas service held at Yoido Full Gospel Church in Seoul that day. The People Power Party included floor leader Choi Eun-seok, chief of staff Cho Bae-sook, lawmaker Cho Jeong-hoon, and floor spokesperson Seo Ji-young, while the Democratic Party included floor leader Park Chan-dae, Supreme Council member Kim Min-seok, chief spokesperson Cho Seung-rae, and party chief secretary Lee Hae-sik.
