jpnn.com – JAKARTA – Secretary General of the Gerindra Party Ahmad Muzani denied that his party elites were attacking the PDI Perjuangan for providing a critical view regarding the government’s plan to increase value added tax (VAT) from 11 percent to 12 percent in 2025.
According to him, the statement by Gerindra Party cadres who defended the government only emphasized that the policy of increasing VAT was mandated by law.
Namely, the Law on Harmonization of Tax Regulations (UU HPP) is a product of collective legislation.
“No, no (attack). I read everything,” said Muzani at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (23/12).
According to Muzani, the Gerindra elite only wanted to say that the law in question had also been jointly approved, including by the PDIP in the DPR.
“It has been mutually agreed upon, jointly initiated, don’t make it appear as if the agreement was mutual, then the impression will be, yes, this is a joint product, that’s what you think,” he said.
However, he appreciates PDIP’s attitude towards the policy of increasing VAT by 12 percent as of January 1 2025 as a normal view.
“If you want to give a view, just look. Something like that. No, no (attack),” he said.
He then explained the process of discussing the HPP Law which is the basis for regulating the 12 percent VAT increase, which will begin to be discussed in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the world.
