jpnn.comJAKARTA – Secretary General (Sekjen) Gerindra Ahmad Muzani denied that his party was attacking the PDI Perjuangan regarding the policy of increasing value added tax (VAT) to 12 percent which will be implemented starting January 2025.
“No, no. I read everything,” said Muzani at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday.
He said that several statements issued by his cadres regarding this matter only confirmed that the policy to increase VAT to 12 percent which was mandated by the Law on Harmonization of Tax Regulations (UU HPP) was a product of collective legislation.
“Friends of Gerindra want to say that this is a law that was also agreed upon jointly, initiated jointly, don’t make it appear as if it was mutually agreed, then the impression will be, this is a joint product, that’s what it seems,” he said.
However, he appreciates PDIP’s attitude towards the policy of increasing VAT by 12 percent as of January 1 2025 as a normal view.
“If you want to give a view, just look. Something like that. No, no (attack),” he said.
He then explained the process of discussing the HPP Law which was the basis for regulating the 12 percent VAT increase, which when it started to be discussed in 2021, the world situation was in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
For this reason, he continued, the DPR together with the government are thinking about how to increase sources of state revenue.
Gerindra Secretary General Ahmad Muzani denied that his party was deliberately attacking PDIP on the issue of increasing VAT by 12 percent.
