The announcement was made during a ceremony organized in Casablanca in the presence of Moroccan and Ivorian officials. A new connection which is part of the consolidation of cooperation relations between Morocco and Ivory Coast and also in response to growing demand.

“This is a moment that inaugurates a new era in cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire,” underlined the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mohamed Abdeljalil, in a speech read on his behalf by the Secretary General of the ministry.

While noting the importance of this new air link in promoting bilateral trade as well as strengthening ties of friendship between the Moroccan and Ivorian people, Mr. Abdeljalil noted that this is an illustration of the bold strategy launched by the Kingdom for the development of the air transport sector, with the signing of numerous conventions in this direction, in particular that dated March 9, 2013 between Morocco and the Ivory Coast which sets no limits concerning the frequency of flights or the reception capacity of airports.

Thanks to this policy, air traffic has experienced tremendous growth with a multitude of offers and flights with affordable prices, he noted, before adding that this has allowed Morocco to establish itself as a unmissable tourist destination.

Supporting figures, he reported growth in air traffic between Morocco and Ivory Coast with more than 140,000 passengers in 2023.

Likewise, the Ivorian Minister of Transport, Amadou Koné affirmed that this new connection illustrates the excellence of the cooperation between the companies Royal Air Maroc and Air Côte d’Ivoire, indicating that this responds to strong demand.

In a statement to MAP, he insisted on the need to exploit this new link to strengthen economic cooperation relations between the two countries as well as fraternal ties between the two peoples.

An opinion shared by the Director General of Air Côte d’Ivoire, Laurent Loukou, who highlighted the role of this new connection in strengthening Moroccan-Ivorian commercial relations as well as the rapprochement between the two peoples, supporting the excellent cooperation that exists between the national carriers of Moroccan and Ivorian companies.

The launch of this new connection was marked by the inauguration of an Air Côte d’Ivoire agency in Casablanca. The Ivorian carrier schedules four flights per week (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday) between Abidjan and Casablanca.
