An air alert was declared across the country, and people in Kyiv took refuge in the subway.
Energy Minister Hermans Halushchenko announced that Russia is “again mass attacking the energy sector”, therefore the energy system operator “Ukrenergo” is taking measures to limit electricity consumption. Power outage schedules have been introduced throughout Ukraine.
“Attacked [uzņēmuma] DTEK thermal power plants. Thermal power plant equipment was seriously damaged in a massive attack,” DTEK said in a press release.
It added that “this is the thirteenth mass attack on Ukraine’s energy sector this year.”
Explosions were heard in Kharkiv, Dnipro, Kremenchuk, Kriviyrich and other cities.
In Kharkiv, rocket strikes damaged buildings, civilian infrastructure and cars.
At night, the Ukrainian Air Force reported the takeoff of a group of Russian strategic bombers “Tu-95MS”, in the morning the launch of cruise missiles of the “Kalibr” type from the Black Sea was recorded.
