BOLZANO. From now on, anyone who submits a request for reimbursement for private dental services to the South Tyrol Health Authority will have to demonstrate that the materials used meet European quality criteria.
This is an important step towards greater safety for patients. In particular, with regard to curative dental services used abroad, it may happen that materials are used that do not comply with current European and national regulations. Often, patients are unaware of this. To ensure greater transparency, from now on, it will therefore be mandatory to attach a copy of the European certificate of conformity to the reimbursement request, naturally together with any other certification required by current legislation on medical devices.
In this way, the towns and citizens of South Tyrol can be certain that the materials used fully meet the required high quality standards. The refund request can be submitted within 6 months from the invoice date. It will be necessary to attach the DURP declaration, the payment certificates and a declaration from the dentist certifying that he/she is not affiliated with the National Health Service for the services indicated on the invoice. The possible possibility of reimbursement, as well as the related amount, will depend on the family income.
