jpnn.comJAKARTA – Chairman of the DPP PDI Perjuangan Said Abdullah gave a signal that his political party supports an increase in Value Added Tax (VAT) from eleven to 12 percent.
Because, said the Chairman of the DPR RI Banggar, the increase in VAT is a mandate of Law Number 7 of 2021 concerning Harmonization of Tax Regulations (HPP) which will take effect in 2021.
“The increase in VAT is not actually an event that comes suddenly,” said Said in a press statement, Tuesday (24/12).
He said that the DPR and the government had indeed discussed the 2025 APBN with the assumption of a target for state opinion after the implementation of 12 percent VAT.
Later, state revenue from the 12 percent VAT assumption will be used to support strategic programs that are pro-people during the era of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
For example, he said, funding free nutritious meals which requires funds of around IDR 71 trillion, free health checks amounting to IDR 3.2 trillion, and construction of complete hospitals in the regions amounting to IDR 1.8 trillion.
Then, to fund the infectious disease (TBC) screening program IDR 8 trillion, school renovations IDR 20 trillion, integrated superior schools IDR 2 trillion, and national, regional and village food barns IDR 15 trillion.
According to Said, Prabowo’s program is in line with the PDI Perjuangan agenda to improve the quality of Human Resources (HR) and encourage inclusive health.
