The murder of an 18-year-old Hindu woman in Pakistan has come as a shock.
The incident took place in Sakar district of Pakistan’s Sindh province. This led to protests in Sukar district. One of the accused has since been arrested by the police.
The name of the murdered woman was Pooja Kumari. His close relative Ajay Kumar told the BBC: “After this incident, Pooja has become a symbol of protest. Now the value of him has risen in our hearts.”

Pooja Kumari’s father Sahib Adi has alleged that three people entered the house in an attempt to abduct his daughter during the incident, but they killed Pooja when she resisted.
The police are investigating the matter at the highest level. The rest of the accused will also be arrested soon, officials said.

The incident angered the local Hindus. Muslims in the area are also protesting. Pooja’s cousin Ajay Kumar said they had gathered at Pooja’s house to offer condolences.
