Thus, a certificate delivery ceremony was organized, Monday evening in Dakhla, for the benefit of the beneficiaries of this program initiated by AMIDEAST, an American non-governmental organization and financed by the United States Embassy in Rabat as part of the United States Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI).
This program aims to support and strengthen the capacities and skills of young girls and boys from the cities of Dakhla, Laâyoune, Es-Semara, Boujdour, Tarfaya, and the center of Bir Gandouz, in order to improve their employability and facilitate their access to the labor market.
Members of this program, aged 18 to 30, benefited from several workshops and training modules focused in particular on interpersonal skills, the development of a professional project, personal and professional efficiency, learning to English language and proficiency in computer skills.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director of the MEPI NEA Assistance Regional Coordination Office, Laila Hasan, indicated that the objective of this program is to equip young people with the necessary knowledge to realize their aspirations, adding that ” This step is not the culmination of our efforts, but the beginning of a new chapter for each of the beneficiaries.”
For his part, the coordinator of the “Skills for success” program, Youssef Briache indicated that this program which was launched in 2021 has ended, welcoming the very positive results obtained and the prospects which have been opened to the young beneficiaries.
“Several beneficiaries were able to access the job market after benefiting from this program,” he said, adding that around 20 young people from the Bir Gandouz center also benefited from this initiative.
For his part, the director of AMIDEAST Morocco, Chris Shinn, said that around 900 young people completed the “Skills for success” program and were awarded certificates in all regions of the south of the Kingdom.
To date, Amideast has helped more than 300 participants find a job or internship in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab and Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra regions.
The program specialist, Nadia Talbi, as well as elected officials and civil society actors took part in the certificate award ceremony.
The training program includes five components and 120 hours of English teaching which constitute an axial lever of the program, supplemented by computer skills, professional skills and the possibility of opting for training linked to the “Transition to ’employment’ and ‘Entrepreneurship’.
The “Skills for success” program also includes an axis relating to “Pay-it-Forward”, having benefited 394 women and young people in 2024, who organized workshops in their own community based on their personal development in the framework of the program.
