With the Sonora de Oportunidades Scholarship program, Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño has managed to reduce school dropouts in the entity to 10 percent, an advance that has been consolidated with the historic budget of 740 million pesos implemented in 2024, to provide scholarships to 152 thousand 035 Sonoran students in order to guarantee better learning conditions, said Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño.
The state president stressed that this program has been elevated to constitutional status, which ensures its permanence and the protection of this right for all future generations. With this measure, girls, boys and young people from Sonora can continue their studies without facing economic limitations.

Between 2022 and 2024, the program reached a cumulative investment of 1,826,539,077 pesos, benefiting primary, secondary, and university students. By 2025, the budget allocated will be 830 million pesos, which will positively impact 190 thousand students throughout the state.
Likewise, in 2024, 303.05 million pesos were invested to acquire and distribute 440 thousand packages of school uniforms. Likewise, 320 million pesos for the delivery of 139 thousand hot breakfasts and 49 thousand cold breakfasts in schools. Finally, 11.54 million pesos were designated for the acquisition of 51,293 packages of school supplies that benefited primary school girls and boys in indigenous, migrant and vulnerable communities.

He governor Alfonso Durazo highlighted that actions like these are essential to guarantee quality education and provide the necessary tools for girls, boys and young people to continue advancing in their academic training. This, he said, will allow them to become highly competitive professionals who contribute to the development of Sonora.
