Samsung Display will present organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) for IT devices such as tablets, laptops, monitors, and vehicles to customers at ‘CES 2025’, the world’s largest information technology (IT) and home appliance exhibition held in Las Vegas, USA from the 7th to the 10th (local time). ) products were announced on the 5th.
At this exhibition, Samsung Display will unveil for the first time an 18.1-inch foldable product that is the size of a small monitor when unfolded. Various types of slideable products and multi-foldable products that fold more than twice are also introduced.
The 18.1-inch foldable product for IT has a screen size as large as two tablets combined when unfolded, but when folded, the size is 13.1 inches, making it easily portable like a small laptop. It supports touch functionality, so it can be used as a tablet or laptop depending on the situation, and can also be used as a monitor along with peripheral devices such as a keyboard. Previously, Samsung Display introduced a 17.3-inch IT foldable panel in 2022.
‘Slidable Flex Duet’, which can increase the screen from 8.1 inches to 12.4 inches by pulling the tablet to both sides, and ‘Slidable Flex Solo’, which can expand the 13-inch screen to 17.3 inches by extending one side of the tablet in one direction, etc. Products are also displayed. They are also introducing the ‘Slidable Flex Vertical’, which can be normally carried in a 5.1-inch size, which is smaller than a regular smartphone, but can be used as a 6.7-inch device by extending the top of the smartphone vertically when necessary.
We also created a space where you can intuitively experience the differences between OLED-equipped IT devices. In a space designed with the theme of ‘Unleash your potential,’ visitors can experience evolving IT devices and OLED panels. In this way, graffiti drawn inexperiencedly on a tablet is reborn as a work of art drawn by an expert on an OLED screen through AI.
Aiming at the automotive display market, where technology is actively changing from the existing liquid crystal display (LCD) to OLED, various innovative products that can increase usability such as driving assistance functions and enhance the aesthetics of the interior will also be unveiled. These include automotive UPC technology that hides the camera in the center of the display, and ‘Real Black HUD’, which guides driving information by reflecting an image on the bottom of the black-coated windshield with an OLED embedded in the dashboard.
A ‘QD Jungle’ exhibition based on the excellent picture quality of large displays will also be held. A media art space is created using a number of large panels, including brighter QD-OLED for TVs and new QD-OLED for monitors, giving visitors in front of the display a vivid feeling as if they are in an actual forest.
