New York: Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has been crushing people critical of the war in Ukraine, according to the New York Times.

An attempt was made to poison Alexei Navalny, the opposition leader who has been harshly critical of Putin since 2011, two years ago. Navalny, who survived, was sentenced yesterday to nine years in prison on charges of fraud and contempt of court.

Navalny is already serving two and a half years in prison in one case. Putin has reportedly decided to keep Navalny in prison under a new sentence. In this case, the Putin government is imprisoning protesters in Ukraine. So far, more than 15,000 people have been imprisoned.

Recently, during a live broadcast of the Russian state ‘TV’, a female employee was arrested for suddenly appearing behind a newsreader and showing a ‘No War’ card. ‘Twitter, Facebook, Instagram’ have been banned. It is a criminal offense to publish news condemning military action in Ukraine.

The media has been instructed not to refer to the attack on Ukraine as war or aggression, but to refer to it as a “special operation by the Russian military.” Meanwhile, Navalny supporters have launched a ‘YouTube channel’ to expose Putin’s corruption.

According to the New York Times, 28 million people watched the news that Putin had bought a multi-million rupee luxury boat in Italy and a luxury mansion in Monaco with bribes. But Putin has denied that “this is false news.”
