The Center for Environment, Geology and Meteorology of Latvia has announced an orange warning for heavy freezing rain throughout the country, which will form ice on wires, tree branches, roads and other surfaces. Atkala may affect the movement of transport on roads and railways, air traffic, as well as pedestrian movement.
A moderate south-easterly wind will blow, gradually changing to a south-westerly wind. In gusts, the wind will blow at a speed of 8-13 meters per second, at the end of the night on the west coast of Kurzeme – up to 18 meters per second.
The air temperature at the beginning of the night in the northeastern part of the country will be -3..-5 degrees. Warmer air will flow in from the southwest, and in the early morning the temperature on the western coast of Kurzeme will rise to +6..+7 degrees.
In the second half of the night, starting from the south-west of Latvia, the precipitation will stop, and on Tuesday it will only rain a little in places, stronger precipitation is expected on Tuesday evening in Latgale and Selia. The sun will shine through the clouds in some places.
On Tuesday, a slow to moderate south, southwest wind will blow, the air temperature will be +1..+4 degrees in the middle of the day.
Rain and icing are expected in Riga at night, a moderate southeast wind will blow and the air temperature will rise from -2 to +2 degrees. The day will pass without precipitation, the sky will be mostly covered with clouds, a slight southerly wind will blow and the maximum air temperature will be +3 degrees.
