A medical camp for children with disabilities was held at Namakkal. Of these, 34 were issued identity cards.

A special medical camp was held at Namakkal Government Southern Men’s High School to measure the resilience of children from birth to 18 years of age belonging to the Namakkal area. Camp District Collector Srayasingh personally visited and inspected and discussed with parents, guardians, volunteers, special educators, and doctors who brought disabled children to the camp. He also issued identity cards to 34 children with disabilities.

Specialist medical examinations were performed on the children, including a pediatrician, ophthalmologist, ear, nose and throat specialist, rheumatologist, and psychiatrist.

Medical insurance

Based on this, the doctors recommended to provide assistive devices to 18 children with disabilities, to provide spectacles to 13 children, to provide training equipment to 6 mentally retarded children and to provide hearing aids to 6 children.

A further 6 children in need of surgery, 2 children in need of tongue restoration treatment and 2 children in need of orthopedic treatment were identified. Officials said they would be treated as required under the First-Minister’s Comprehensive Medical Insurance Scheme.

The camp was attended by Principal Education Officer Maheshwari, Disability Welfare Officer Thirumuruga Datsanamoorthy, Specialists, School Preparatory Camp and Special Teachers and Volunteers from Early Training Centers.
