China says Russia cannot be expelled from G20 China has made it clear that Russia is an important country in the G20 and that no one can exclude it.
China’s position comes after the United States said it would press Russia to pull out of the G20.
A Chinese foreign ministry spokesman said the G20 was a major platform for international economic cooperation and that no member had the right to expel any country involved. From the beginning, China has provided diplomatic support to Russia, which has faced numerous international sanctions in connection with the Ukraine occupation.

Russian President Vladimir Putin had earlier visited Beijing for the Winter Olympics in China. After the meeting, the leaders announced that economic and political ties between the two countries would continue.
