jpnn.comJAKARTA – Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Andreas Hugo Pareira, said that PSSI’s move to remove Shin Tae Yong (STY) from the seat of the Indonesian National Team shocked all elements of the nation.
“STY’s replacement as National Team coach is like lightning on a clear day,” said Andreas via message service, Monday (6/1).
Because, said the Indonesian football fan, STY over the last five years has been able to develop the Indonesian National Team until it is recognized at the international level.
“Slowly but surely, Indonesia’s football achievements are once again getting the world’s attention thanks to STY’s cool hands which are able to combine diaspora and local players into one strong team,” continued Andreas.
The legislator for Electoral District (Dapil) I East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) said that Indonesia’s position based on the FIFA rankings had also improved, with the national team held by STY.
“The national team improved its FIFA ranking from 170 to 130,” said Andreas.
He even said that the U-23 Indonesian National Team also almost qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics since STY held the position of coach.
Andreas considers it unfair if STY’s dismissal is due to Indonesia’s poor performance when competing in the 2024-2025 AFF Cup.
