Jangheung-gun is rushing to get vaccinated against seasonal diseases. Jangheung-gun is rushing to vaccinate children, pregnant women, and the elderly over 65 years of age in preparation for influenza, which has recently become prevalent nationwide.
It is known that seasonal diseases usually last until spring. The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency announced that the currently prevalent influenza is very similar to this season’s vaccine strain, so sufficient preventive effect can be expected through vaccination, and that it is a safe vaccine with no mutations that affect treatment resistance.
Free vaccination is available to children aged 6 months or older to 13 years old (born January 1, 2011 to August 31, 2024), pregnant women, and seniors aged 65 years or older (born before December 31, 1959). The vaccine can be administered through visits to public health centers and medical institutions until March.
An official at the Jangheung-gun Public Health Center said, “For flu and COVID-19, which worsen underlying diseases when infected and are accompanied by various complications such as otitis media and bacterial pneumonia, vaccination is more important than treatment.” He added, “Increase immunity through vaccination, and practice hand washing and cough etiquette. “Please actively cooperate in practicing prevention rules, such as wearing masks,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Daedeok-eup Administrative Welfare Center in Jangheung-gun is making a circuit visit to 50 senior citizen centers from the 2nd to the 9th of this month to explain major projects of the county government and listen to public sentiment on the ground.
This on-site meeting was attended by the new town mayor Song Byeong-seok, the chairman of the Daedeok town residents’ association, the chairman of the village autonomous association, and related public officials. The visiting team is seeking realistic response plans by immediately checking civil complaints on site and discussing solutions together.
In accordance with the 2025 town administration policy, Daedeok-eup is engaging in on-site communication with the goals of proactive on-site administration, kindness to civil servants, harmony among employees, warm welfare, and improving town residents’ income through tourism.
Daedeok Town Mayor Song Byeong-seok said, “Throughout the year, we will strive to bring together the capabilities of Daedeok Town residents to improve local industry productivity and attract many tourists. “We will do our best to realize a communicative administration and warm welfare,” he said.
