As Azernews reports, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, in an interview with the Chinese CCTV channel, confirmed Tehran’s desire to resume dialogue with international partners.
According to him, over the past two years, Iran has negotiated in good faith with representatives of the P5+1 countries, which ultimately led to the signing of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). However, the US withdrawal from the agreement, Araghchi noted, became the cause of the current diplomatic crisis.
The minister stressed that Iran remains committed to the terms of the JCPOA and is ready to discuss steps aimed at strengthening confidence in the country’s nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of sanctions. He also noted that Tehran has already begun negotiations with European countries, and the next round is scheduled for the next two weeks.
The role of Russia and China, Araghchi added, remains key to maintaining a constructive dialogue. In addition, Iran’s position towards the United States will depend on the political course of the new American government.
