Youtuber Drachenlord sentenced to probation

by time news

NOnly at first glance does the case of the “Dragon Lord” look like a dispute between people from rather “uneducated” milieus: A YouTuber fights his often drunk “haters” in a village in Bavaria. Two of the so-called victims who, in 2019, one day before Christmas Eve, made the pilgrimage first to the Christmas market in Nuremberg and then to his property in Altschauerberg in Central Franconia and confronted him there with the message that “your father cummed on your mother”, medical students. For this you normally need a A-levels or rich, “educationally close” parents who are suing for a place at university. The two students were convicted of defamation.

The choice of words during the years of quarrels between the 32-year-old W. and his “haters”, whether on the Internet or in front of his now demolished property, left nothing to be desired – on either side. The YouTuber became known nationwide because of his growing following, who happily pretend to hate him. In October 2021, the Neustadt an der Aisch District Court sentenced W. to two years in prison without parole. It was based on insults, including against police officers, and physical injuries from the years 2019 to 2021. Accordingly, he had thrown a brick at a man and hit his arm, hit another with a flashlight and put another man in a headlock.

Not just “victim of his circumstances”

Both the prosecution and the defense appealed the verdict. In the appeals process before the district court in Nuremberg, W. was sentenced to a suspended sentence of one year on Wednesday. The accused was guilty of, among other things, dangerous bodily harm and insult, said the presiding judge.

W. had previously confessed to the allegations again – but emphasized that he had been massively provoked. According to the court spokesman, he also showed remorse for insulting the police officers. That was “not okay”. He had insulted police officers in his videos because, in his opinion, they had given him insufficient support against the “haters” – who in turn often drove hundreds of kilometers to provoke W.

The district court justified the fact that the verdict was not suspended in October with a negative social forecast. Because the crimes occurred during a probation period that was already running because of similar incidents. Although the court recognized in his favor that he was “mentally stressed by the years of virtual and real bullying attacks by the haters”. But he is not just a “victim of his circumstances”, because he “paradoxically” also owes the range to his “haters”. On Wednesday, a psychiatric report on the Youtuber’s criminal responsibility was issued – with the public excluded. There is a risk that private details will be used for cyberbullying.
