The studios of Roman artists in via Galla Placidia 194 open to the public

by time news

On Sunday 27 March the Open Studios will be accessible to the public in the Roman spaces of via Galla Placidia 194, from 11.30 to 20.30. ‘Galla Placidia 194’ is a place characterized by former industrial warehouses, stables, hangars, near via Tiburtina, which over time has been transformed into an artist studio center. The artistic rebirth of these spaces took place in the 90s thanks to the painter Paolo Picozza, who started the creation, together with a small group of artists, of a center for sharing and experimentation.

Since then the process has never stopped, on the contrary it has expanded and has seen many artists enter and leave who over the years have organized workshops, open studios, exhibitions. Today, 14 artists coexist in this space who stand out for their different creative, poetic and media approaches: painting, sculpture, engraving, installation, video, muralism, photography, collage.

The reality of Galla Placidia has always been placed in the Roman context as an example of an experimental laboratory: a multiform organism outside the conventional schemes, where exchange and relationships have always been a central point for artistic comparison. The artists currently working in the permanent studios are Onze, Carlotta Leoni, Ombretta Gamberale, Lu Tiberi, Lorenzo Lupano, Federica Bartoli, Gio Pistone, Bankeri, David Tozzi, Raniero Berardinelli, Stefano Maria Girardi, Maria Pia Picozza, Simone Cametti and Edoardo Aruta
