The Chennai Magistrate’s Court has refused to ban the release of the movie Valaimai starring actor Ajith Kumar on the ODT site.

Jayakrishnan, the owner of JK Creations, has filed a petition in the Chennai Magistrate’s Court alleging that the story and characters of the movie Valimai starring actor Ajith Kumar were taken from the movie Metro which was released in 2016.

Pulling the chain for a comfortable life, the protagonist, who learns that his brother is involved in drug trafficking, is portrayed as killing his brother. While Metro is going to produce the film in other languages, it is against patent law to film the force with the same features.

Therefore the strength image should be banned from being published on satellite channel, ODT sites. He had sought an order to pay one crore rupees in compensation.

The case came up for hearing before Judge Senthilkumar Ramamurthy. Attorney Vijayan Subramanian filed a reply petition on behalf of Vinod, the then director of the film Valimai. In it, the strength film was created based on the daily news of chain-flooding, drug trafficking and murder in the newspapers.

The plot, the characters, the climax are all different. It is a mistake to say that the story of the movie Metro is used in the movie Strength. In order to tarnish my reputation, she had told the petitioner that she was going to file a separate case seeking Rs 10 crore in compensation.

Following this, the judge refused to ban the publication of the strength film on the ODT site and adjourned the hearing to April 12.
