Jincheon-gun was selected as an excellent organization for local regulatory innovation performance evaluation. Jincheon-gun announced on the 6th that it was selected as an excellent institution in the ‘2024 Local Regulatory Innovation Performance Evaluation’ hosted by the Ministry of Public Administration and Security and secured 200 million won in special grant tax.
The Ministry of Public Administration and Security selects excellent organizations every year by evaluating 243 local governments across the country for their contribution to local regulatory innovation and performance in discovering and improving lumpy regulations and shadow/behavior regulations.
This year, the county has focused on finding and improving regulations that impede the lives of residents and business activities through regulatory innovation experienced by residents. As a result of regulatory innovation felt by residents, the case of ‘Improving Nongdari Tourist Satisfaction through Permanent Food Truck Operation through Changes in River Occupancy Permit’ achieved the feat of being selected as a new case of active administration of local regulatory innovation in the second quarter of 2024.
In addition, we operated a regulatory reporting center and a regulatory reform idea contest to listen to regulatory difficulties in the field and suggest revisions to local government regulations and laws to central ministries.
As a result, 36 autonomous regulation improvement tasks were reviewed under the regulatory verification responsibility system, 14 cases were recommended for improvement, and 11 cases were revised. Among them, the revision of the ‘Jincheon-gun Water Supply Ordinance’ expanded the scope of water and sewerage fee reductions and improved payment methods, thereby reducing the economic burden on vulnerable groups.
Meanwhile, in 2024, 1.7 million people visited Jincheon Nongdari, making it a national hot place in name and reality. According to Jincheon-gun on the 6th, the number of visitors to Nongdari last year was calculated to be exactly 1,702,124.
The number of visitors, which was only 321,951 in 2023, increased by a whopping 5.3 times, creating a dramatic increase in the number of visitors.
The number of visitors to Nongdari remained at the average level until March of last year. Afterwards, starting with the opening of Chopyeong Lake Mir 309 Suspension Bridge, new barefoot red clay forest paths, Nongdari food trucks, and waterfall observation decks were introduced and exposed to numerous media, and the number of visitors increased rapidly from the end of April.
On weekends and public holidays, more than 10,000 people used tour buses from all over the country to visit, receive number tickets, and wait to eat. Local commercial districts, including restaurants, were also bustling.
In the second half of last year, nighttime landscape lighting and a large Christmas tree were installed to present a new look for the bridge embracing the moonlight, receiving a great response.
Kim Seon-myeong, head of the tourism team, said, “Through investigation and research on the impact of Nongdari on the local economy, our goal is to establish a virtuous cycle of tourism in which money-making tourism, income and jobs are created through tourism and returned back to society.” “We will continue to create a luxury Nongdari with the goal of reaching 2 million visitors,” he said.
