“Latvian national team captain Tobers has joined Aberdeen for an undisclosed fee,” reports the Scottish club.
Earlier, Scottish football commentator Anthony Joseph reported that the Grasshoppers wanted around £800,000 (€958,705) for the player.
“The 24-year-old centre-back has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract, subject to British visa and immigration formalities,” Aberdeen said.
The club’s manager, Jimmy Thelin, noted that the club had to “work hard over the last couple of months” to secure Tober’s move to Aberdeen, and praised Tober for his professional approach to work and leadership qualities.

The 24-year-old Tober moved to the Zurich club from the Polish Premier League club Gdańsk “Lechia” in the summer of 2023, signing a two-year contract with the option to extend it.
Tober has played 39 games for the Swiss club, scoring one goal.
Tobers started his career as a professional footballer in “Liepāja”, but after two seasons in Liepaja, in 2020, the footballer was first loaned to “Lechia” until the end of the Polish championship, and then the Gdańsk club bought out the footballer’s contract.
Tober has scored one goal in 37 games for the Latvian national team. He has also represented Latvian youth national teams of all ages.
