Nico Schlotterbeck is under contract in Dortmund until the summer of 2027. But he can already imagine a longer future at Borussia.

National player Nico Schlotterbeck can imagine extending his contract with Borussia Dortmund beyond the current end date. “I feel very comfortable here and love playing for the club,” said the 25-year-old central defender to the newspapers of the “Funke Mediengruppe”.

Schlotterbeck’s contract runs until June 30, 2027. Nevertheless, the defender signaled his willingness to have a long-term future at BVB: “BVB is my first point of contact. I can basically imagine staying here longer.”

In the summer of 2022, Schlotterbeck moved from SC Freiburg to Dortmund and quickly prevailed against strong competition such as Mats Hummels and Niklas Süle. “That was of course my goal, but I still couldn’t expect it to happen so quickly. I’ve made big steps in a short space of time,” explained the defender.

The 25-year-old has a clear route for the first half of 2025: BVB must “be so confident that you always have the feeling that we will win the game – whether at home or away.” Dortmund, sixth in the table, starts the second half of the season with a home game against Bayer Leverkusen on Friday evening. Leverkusen is currently in second place.
