Hamburg – As Commissioner Peter Brockmöller, TV favorite Charles Brauer (86) became a television legend. From 1986 to 2001 he investigated in the Hamburg “crime scene” alongside Manfred Krug († 79). Now Brauer is coming back to the Hanseatic city to commemorate his friend and colleague. Here, where it all began 66 years ago!

Charles Brauer has lived in Switzerland for 35 years. In a village (800 inhabitants) near Basel.
But the Hamburg years are not forgotten. Too important the time at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus, the birth of his twins with actress Witta Pohl († 73, “Mother Drombusch”). And here he also met his current wife Lilot Hegi (75).
The actor to BILD: “We start our homage tour for Manfred with his musicians at the Ernst-Deutsch-Theater. I am very happy to once again stand on the boards of this stage that is so familiar to me. I live far away though. But Hamburg has always been an important city in my life.”
And of course there are the memories of his friend.
Brauer: “During the ‘Tatort’ shooting we always stayed at the Marriott Hotel. Please believe me, if we hadn’t been friends, we would never have endured 16 years together.”
The music also connected the two. The actor: “We were big jazz fans, we often sang on the set.”
Brauer: “Our viewers liked it and at some point there was the CD ‘Tatort die Songs’. A fax came from Manfred: ‘Dude, we have to get used to a new word: charts!’ We were in 8th place ahead of very famous people. The joy was huge, we didn’t get rich.”
Is Brauer still watching “Tatort” today? “Rarely actually, and I’m afraid today’s colleagues have the same problems that we had: the scripts!”
