In the coming days, the weather will be changeable, snow, rain and hail are expected, on Friday it will snow very heavily in Kurzeme. On Sunday and Monday night, as the sky clears, the frost will intensify – the air temperature may drop below -10 degrees in some places.
At the beginning of next week, the speed of the southwest wind will increase and the air will become warmer. Westerly winds are expected to dominate until the end of the month, air temperatures are often expected to be above zero, frost will be small and short-lived.
However, unlike previous weeks, less rainfall is forecast due to increased atmospheric pressure expected in most of Europe. The sky will clear at times.
Therefore, January in Latvia will be the twelfth month in a row with an average air temperature above the norm. There is a possibility that winter will not come in Riga and on the coast of Kurzeme, where the meteorological autumn continues. A similar situation existed in the cold season of 2019-2020.
