Korea Airports Corporation Jeju Airport announced on the 10th that it had increased the number of aircraft to 49 to transport 10,000 passengers stranded in Jeju due to bad weather.
According to Jeju Airport, out of 395 flights scheduled to fly to and from Jeju the previous day, 168 flights (157 domestic flights, 11 international flights) were canceled due to heavy snow on the west coast and strong winds in the Jeju region. It was calculated that the number of passengers who had reservations for these canceled flights amounted to approximately 10,000.
Fortunately, the weather has improved, including the lifting of all strong and sudden wind warnings issued at Jeju Airport on this day, and as of 9 a.m., flights to and from Jeju are generally operating normally.
A total of 444 flights operated at Jeju Airport on this day.
An official at Jeju Airport said, “We expect that most of the staying passengers will be able to move to their destinations by today.”
Although the weather is expected to be relatively good this weekend, Jeju Airport plans to maintain a response system by strengthening monitoring of weather conditions.
