The Olympic champion retires. The greatest athlete in the history of the State of Israel and the best in the world in her field, Linoy Ashram, will hold a press conference at which she is expected to announce her retirement from a sports career. The gymnastics association offered her to join the training team of the Israeli national team.

About eight months after astonishing the world at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, after winning the gold medal in the multi-event final in artistic gymnastics and succeeding in breaking Russia’s hegemony in the industry, Ashram will announce the end of her career as a gymnast.

The 22-year-old Ashram became the first and only Israeli to win the Olympic gold medal – an achievement reserved for only three athletes in the State of Israel, along with Gal Friedman and Artium Dolgofiat. In addition to being an Olympic champion, she also won the European Championship and the title of world runner-up.

Throughout her professional career, the gymnast from Rishon Lezion has won 123 medals in five years of competitions. The greatest gymnast of them all appeared on the biggest podiums in the world and set a standard that other Israeli gymnasts will find difficult to reach in many years to come, since she has 12 medals at the World Championships and another 6 medals at the European Championships.

Following the decision to end her career as a gymnast, the Gymnastics Association has already offered Linoy Ashram a role on the coaching staff of the Israeli artistic gymnastics team, alongside the coach who has accompanied her throughout the years, Ayelet Sussman.
