Aquarian Space startup plans to take Wi-Fi networks to the moon in two years.

The company has secured $650,000 in seed funding to bring high-speed internet to the Moon, and possibly Mars, from Draper Associates in California, a company that previously invested in SpaceX.

Aquarian Space hopes to deploy the first communications system on the lunar surface “Solent” by 2024, and because it is expected to increase missions to the moon and space in the future, the company hopes to move forward with its project.

“In 2021, there were 13 landers, orbiters and landers on and around the Moon, and by 2030, we will have about 200, creating a multibillion-dollar lunar economy. But this cannot be without,” CEO Kelly Larson said in a statement on Thursday. Strong and reliable communications from Earth to the Moon.”

To achieve its goal, Solnet will use high-speed satellite networks with speeds of 100 megabits per second.

The first satellite of Solent is expected to be launched in 2024, and the second will follow in 2025 to cover the south pole of the moon, and it is not yet clear what type of satellites the company will use in the project.

In addition to providing high-speed internet, the company also wants to track space weather and collect scientific information from the moon and Mars, according to the British Sun.
