Mr. Akhannouch, who represents HM the King at the work of the high-level international conference on the urgent humanitarian response to Gaza, held in the Dead Sea region (40 km south of Amman), stressed that the Kingdom calls for a serious and positive approach to these initiatives and to work to create the right conditions to achieve the two-state solution.

“The situation in Gaza cannot be summed up only by the staggering figures of civilian casualties, the operations of mass destruction or the reports of the horrors on the ground. This is a truly unprecedented humanitarian drama, with more than 2, 3 million people in Gaza living in unbearable conditions,” he said in his speech at this conference.

“With the continuation of the blockade imposed on Gaza and the restriction of access to relief, life in the Gaza Strip, the most densely populated place in the world, has become a veritable hell, in a context marked by insecurity and lack of access to water, food and medicine,” he continued.

Mr. Akhannouch recalled that HM King Mohammed VI, in his capacity as President of the Al-Quds Committee, had ordered the sending of urgent humanitarian aid to the Palestinian brothers in Gaza and Al-Quds, as well as the granting additional scholarships for Palestinian students continuing their studies in Moroccan institutes and universities.

On this occasion, he recalled, the Kingdom of Morocco reiterates its full readiness to continue to provide assistance and support to the Palestinians, affirming that aid aimed at saving lives and relieving the most vulnerable must in no case being held hostage by politics and conflicts.

He also indicated that HM King Mohammed VI has continually stressed the need for urgent action to ensure the smooth and unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid, through all crossing points, in order to put an end to to this humanitarian tragedy.

In this regard, noted the head of government, the Kingdom of Morocco insists on the need to allow UN agencies working in the humanitarian field, in particular UNRWA, to carry out their missions without hindrance.

Furthermore, Mr. Akhannouch stressed that the Kingdom of Morocco, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, firmly rejects and condemns attempts at forced displacement and the targeting of civilians in all circumstances, whatever the circumstances. reasons and justifications.

He further noted that military solutions will not bring peace or stability, adding that managing this conflict without a reasonable prospect of a solution will not bring lasting security.

Mr. Akhannouch recalled the constant position of the Kingdom, expressed on numerous occasions by HM the King, regarding the justness of the Palestinian cause and its support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent State on the borders of June 4, 1967 with Al-Quds-East as capital, on the basis of the two-state solution, noting that dialogue and negotiation are the only means to achieve a lasting, just and comprehensive peace to avoid the recurrence of such a catastrophe humanitarian.

Mr. Akhannouch represents HM King Mohammed VI at the work of the high-level international conference on the urgent humanitarian response in Gaza, organized jointly by Jordan, Egypt and the United Nations.

Titled “Call for Action: Urgent Humanitarian Assistance for Gaza”, the Conference aims to identify ways to strengthen the international community’s response to the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.

The conference is marked by the presence of the UN Secretary General, António Guterres, heads of state and/or government representing more than 75 countries, as well as representatives of humanitarian organizations and international financial institutions.
