Historically, the city of Dashkesan was rich in both ore and non-metallic deposits. The marble produced here has been compared to the world famous Italian mineral. Even today, due to its quality, there is interest in Dashkesan marble in both local and foreign markets.
AZERTAC regional correspondent visited marble quarries located in the mountains of Dashkesan, where he observed the process of its extraction, Day.Az reports.
The chief master of the quarry, Gabil Gasimov, said that the mountain is cut using special equipment and marble stones are produced. “I have been in marble quarries for almost 20 years, it is a very complex and difficult job. First, the resources of the deposit are determined using special equipment. Then the raw materials are cut and removed using special heavy equipment. This is the white marble from the quarry that we are working with now. Of course, and other quarries produce different types of marble in different colors,” he says.
Raw materials extracted from the quarries are sent to local production plants. The marble mined here is used in the preparation of tombstones, monuments, statues, bas-reliefs, etc.
“The demand for raw materials extracted in our quarry is very high in the local market. Of course, we try to produce high-quality raw materials so that this demand is constant. Products produced here are sent to local production enterprises based on orders,” said entrepreneur Sarkhan Abdullayev.
He noted that Dashkesan marble will retain its leadership in the local market for many years to come. One of the important goals is to enter the world market.
