China has made significant progress in deploying industrial robots thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. This was reported by The Wire China, Day.Az reports with reference to Lenta.ru.

According to media journalists, China has become a world leader in the production of industrial robots, having made a leap. Earlier, the International Federation of Robotics noted that there are 470 robots per 10 thousand workers in the country. This is the third indicator in the world; China is surpassed only by Singapore and South Korea.

The material says that 10 years ago, China was lagging behind in the industrial robots market, but now the country is called one of the industry leaders. According to experts, the breakthrough was made partly thanks to the well-funded government program “Made in China 2025”. Also, the coronavirus pandemic and supply chain disruptions have forced Chinese industry to actively introduce robots into production.

“Chinese firms will change robotics in Europe and the United States,” said Georg Stieler, a specialist at Stieler Technology & Marketing Consulting. According to him, local companies have learned to produce robots much cheaper and faster than manufacturers from Japan and Europe.

China is also actively buying up foreign enterprises related to the development of robots. The most famous example is the purchase by Midea Corporation of the German company Kuka in 2016, which is one of the four major robot manufacturers.
