/ On Tuesday, the Ministry of Commerce revealed details of launching the “largest campaign” to sell basic foodstuffs at competitive prices in the capital, Baghdad, and all governorates, tomorrow, Wednesday.

The Ministry’s spokesman, Muthanna Jabbar, told Agency, “The Minister of Trade, Atheer Al-Ghurairi, sent the Ministry’s sensors to inspect the local markets by the Commercial and Financial Control Department, and found a slight increase in the prices of 8 items, which are (table eggs, chicken, cut meat, and flour). Scratch, paste, oil, sugar, adult milk).

Jabbar added, “Therefore, the Minister directed the launch of 15 refrigerators for eggs, the same for chickens, and 15 large buses for dry materials,” indicating that “these refrigerators and buses will depart from the Al-Hurriya warehouse complex to every warehouse complex affiliated with the General Company for Foodstuff Trade in the central, southern, and northern governorates.” There are also two marketing outlets in Karkh, and one in Rusafa, as well as in the governorates of Nineveh, Salah al-Din, Maysan, and Karbala.”

He continued, “In addition to marketing outlets and warehouse complexes, the minister directed the launch of mobile vehicles carrying eggs and chickens, and small-sized refrigerators carrying up to 100 egg cartons and the same number of chickens, to move around the governorate areas.”

He explained, “This campaign to pump materials will last for a week, and if prices decrease, the campaign will stop, but otherwise the campaign will continue until prices are reduced.”

Regarding the prices of materials, Jabbar stated, “A layer of table eggs (red and white) will be sold for 5,000 dinars, a kilogram of scratch flour for 750 dinars, a kilogram of sugar for 1,000 dinars, an 800-gram box of paste for 1,500 dinars, a 1-liter jar of oil for 1,000 dinars, and a quarter of A kilogram of Gardo adult milk costs 1,000 dinars. As for legumes, beans will be sold It is sold at a price of 1000 dinars per kilo.

He stressed that “these quantities will be pumped into all governorates, and in any governorate that notices an increase in prices, we will go to the market and speculate in it as a trader. We buy and sell at a slight profit not exceeding 1 percent, to cover administrative services only.”

He pointed out that “this campaign is for the purpose of conveying a message of reassurance to citizens, and at the same time a message of discipline to merchants, not to exploit the market need, and so that the level of profits is disciplined.”

He continued, “Previously, the private sector used to argue that the import license is restricted, the dollar at the parallel price is restricted, and the process of entering the goods through the ports is restricted, but currently the platform is available to everyone and the import value of the dollar is 132 thousand, and the Ministry of Commerce has also lifted the restriction on the import license from the private sector, The ports facilitate the entry of inspected and regular goods.”

He continued, “Some traders argue that entering the platform in their clear name or in the name of their company will expose them to tax accountability,” stressing that “tax accountability is a national duty, and the private sector cannot protest against the government by not entering the platform to avoid being held accountable for taxes, and this is not logic.” “A merchant who respects his profession.”
