Elon Musk has confirmed that his team at social network X (Twitter) is working on creating a branded email service. The publication iXBT drew attention to this, Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru.
The statement was made in response to a message from a user with the nickname MarioNawfal, who expressed a desire to have a mailbox without complex threads and formatting problems.
“Imagine a clean inbox, without the tangled mess of threads and formatting horrors we all hate. Xmail will keep the best thing about email – universal compatibility – and throw away the rest,” MarioNawfal’s post reads.
Musk emphasized that Xmail will retain all the best features of email, including universal compatibility, and get rid of unnecessary features. The service will offer convenient and uninterrupted communication without additional applications and endless contact lists.
The project is part of Elon Musk’s broader platform X strategy, which includes acquiring Twitter in 2022. Musk plans to introduce new features to the platform, make algorithms open source, fight spam bots and promote freedom of speech. Xmail is likely to be one of the key elements in its quest to create an “app for everything.”
