Sheikh Salem Salameh, a senior Hamas official and deputy head of the Palestinian Association of Theologians, has made harsh statements on Lebanese television channel Al-Mayadeen in the past. He categorically condemned the normalization of relations with Israel, calling it a step incompatible with Islam.

Alexey Zheleznov spoke about this in his Telegram channel.

“Not a single Muslim in the world can imagine that Muslims would recognize the Zionist entity. This would be a betrayal of God, religion and all Muslims,” the sheikh emphasized.

Salameh also stated that “all of Palestine, and especially Jerusalem,” is a sacred waqf (property donated for religious or charitable purposes), belonging to all Muslims – from Jakarta to Tangier.

In addition, the Sheikh criticized the United States, accusing it of cruelty and killing of innocent people throughout history. He claimed that even the first US President George Washington allegedly killed Muslim Indians who, according to him, built mosques.

“This is a documented fact,” he said.

The claim that George Washington killed Muslim Indians has no historical basis. At the time of the founding of the United States (1776), the Native Americans, or Indians, did not practice Islam. Their religious systems included a variety of spiritual traditions that were in no way related to the Abrahamic religions.

Islam became known in North America later, mainly due to African slaves brought in the 18th and 19th centuries. Moreover, the claim that Indians built mosques is completely refuted by historical facts: archaeological and historical research has found no traces of Islamic places of worship among the indigenous peoples of that time. Therefore, this statement lacks historical accuracy.

Earlier, Kursor reported that Hamas would again be headed by Sinwar.
