Jamal Rushdi, the official spokesman of the Secretary General, said in a statement: “The Secretary General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, took part in the meetings hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh on Syria, including its number Arab foreign ministers, including the Foreign Minister of the new administration in Syria.” Together with ministers and officials from several foreign countries and international and regional organizations.”
He added, “The meetings discussed the situation in Syria and how to support Syria to enter a new phase of difficult transition, full of great challenges, to achieve the goals of the Syrian people after long suffering.”
The spokesperson explained, “The meetings highlighted the importance of a safe and inclusive transitional process that represents everyone, as well as the importance of preserving Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and a diverse and open identity. “
He pointed out that “the transparent and honest dialogue meetings showed everyone’s sincere desire for Syria to be a positive member of the Arab and regional family in the future.”
