It is indeed with great satisfaction that the international Film academy (AIC) announces the results of the 2024/2025 scholarship selection process. The school received more than 220 applicants, with incredible life stories, and it would be really nice if all requests could be fulfilled.
To select the participants, a delegation of AIC employees analyzed documents, letters of intent and videos, training history, expectations with training in the desired area, as well as other points stipulated in the regulation.
The process involves serving Black, Brown and/or Indigenous youth, with the intention of valuing diversity and recognizing that the national audiovisual still consists of a structure of whiteness that must be deconstructed. In an effort to contribute to more plural narratives and other activities, it offers, through this selection process, 50 places for the school’s free courses.

Discussion Between Time.news Editor and Expert on AIC Scholarship Selection ProcessTime.news Editor: Thank you for joining us today. The recent announcement from the International film Academy (AIC) regarding the scholarship selection for the 2024/2025 academic year has generated critically important interest. They received over 220 applications from a diverse range of candidates. Could you elaborate on the significance of this selection process?
Expert: Absolutely, and thank you for having me. The AIC’s approach to the scholarship selection is especially noteworthy not only because of the number of applicants but also due to their focus on underrepresented communities.By prioritizing Black, Brown, and Indigenous youth, the school is actively working to deconstruct the prevailing narratives in the national audiovisual landscape, which has historically been dominated by white voices. This is a crucial step toward promoting diversity and creating more inclusive storytelling.
Time.news Editor: That’s a powerful point. The selection criteria included analysis of documents, letters of intent, videos, and training histories. How does this comprehensive evaluation impact the selection of candidates?
Expert: This thorough evaluation process allows the selection committee to understand not just the qualifications of the applicants but also their personal stories, aspirations, and how their diverse backgrounds might contribute to the artistic community. It prioritizes candidates who not only demonstrate potential in the field but also represent narratives that can enrich the audiovisual spectrum. It’s about identifying those who have been historically marginalized and empowering them with opportunities to tell their stories.
Time.news Editor: There are 50 places available for free courses as part of this initiative. Given this limited capacity, how can the AIC ensure that future applicants remain encouraged and engaged, even if they are not selected this year?
Expert: It’s crucial for the AIC to maintain obvious communication with applicants. They’ve already emphasized that this is just the first cohort and that more opportunities will arise in the future. Providing feedback on applications, along with highlighting upcoming opportunities, can motivate those who weren’t selected to continue pursuing their goals in media and film.Additionally, engaging them in community-building activities or workshops can help sustain their interest and development in the field.
Time.news Editor: It sounds like the AIC is making strides not just in education, but in fostering a community. What’s your take on the broader implications of such programs on the audiovisual industry?
Expert: programs like this one are vital. They contribute to establishing a more equitable industry where diverse voices are amplified. By investing in the next generation of filmmakers and storytellers from varied backgrounds, the AIC is helping to shape a future where narratives reflect the complexity of society as a whole. This can lead to a richer, more varied media landscape that resonates with wider audiences and fosters understanding and empathy.
time.news Editor: Thank you for your insights. It’s exciting to see institutions like AIC taking proactive steps to not only educate but to transform the industry landscape for the better. We’ll be following up on the progress of these selected candidates as they embark on their journey in 2025.
