President Herzog to the Israeli Medical Staff in Ukraine: “You fill us with pride”

President Yitzhak Herzog spoke today (Friday) with the doctors of the Israeli field hospital “Kochav Meir”, which was established in Ukraine through the Sheba Medical Center and representatives of the entire health system in Israel. This is the first time that the State of Israel has established a completely civilian field hospital outside its borders. The name of the hospital was chosen to commemorate and commemorate the late Fourth Prime Minister Golda Meir, a native of Ukraine.

The delegation was intended to provide medical assistance to residents and war refugees in Ukraine, and was carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the Sheba Medical Center, the Schusterman Foundation, the JDC and other donors.

The delegation, headed by Dr. Dudu Dagan, consists of 66 doctors, nurses and nurses, laboratory workers, a pharmacy and an administrative staff. To date, the hospital has treated more than 350 injured and seeking treatment.

The President thanked the medical staff and said: “You are the beautiful Israel at its best, you and many dozens of amazing Israeli men and women who are on Ukrainian soil and fulfill a noble mission, perform an amazing mitzvah of every single soul saver as if he saved a world and its fullness. You and all your partners with you reach out to a nation that is in terrible tragedy, a nation wounded and bruised by a humanitarian catastrophe, and the ordinary citizens, human beings, creatures of God are under severe attack and I look at you and know you are doing the best you can. ”

The President added: “You fill us with immense pride, far from home under alarms and alerts, and I thank you on behalf of the entire State of Israel. I wish you all a Shabbat Shalom, come up and succeed. Take care of yourself, continue to fulfill your mission with pride and respect for the people of Israel and the entire Jewish people. Thank you very much.”

The chairman of the delegation, Dr. Dudu Dagan, stated: “We are concluding the first week of activity at Sadeh Hospital. The many refugees we have treated so far have proved to us that there is no doubt that we are here and that it is our duty to continue to reach out to anyone who needs us. With the beginning of Shabbat, I congratulate the members of the Israeli delegation, who spend days and nights with humanity, sensitivity and professionalism. You are the beautiful face of Israel. ”
