Amsterdam: For the first time in the world, microplastic (microscopic plastic particles) contamination has been detected in human blood. Of the 22 people in the study, 80 percent (17) were found to have microscopic plastic particles in their blood.

They can also travel to all parts of the body. These can also enter the organs. However, it is not clear how this affects health. Researchers have previously found that microplastics can damage human cells in labs.

Blood samples contained plastic components such as PET, polystyrene and polyethylene. Researchers at the University of Vree in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, are behind the worrying findings. Plastic pollution is one of the biggest challenges facing the world today.
