The Gilboa Regional Council will hold the ‘Gilboa March’, named after Chief of Staff Moshe Levy, one of the oldest marches in the country, which has become a national and international tradition, attracting tens of thousands of participants. Due to the corona plague, the marching tradition has had to stop and now that the restrictions have been lifted it is back.
“The 54th Gilboa March will be held to mark 100 years of coexistence in Gilboa,” updates the head of the council, Oved Nur. “Those first settlers, created in this magical region of the country, a common and vibrant life, and built for the glory of settlements and communities, while a joint struggle, based on brotherhood and mutual guarantee, and integration into the spectacular nature around.”
Following on from this, and as part of the ‘Celebrations of the Century’, the marchers will enjoy a spectacular parachute show by the Parachute Club. In addition, there will be a presentation of ‘Flower Gate’ that will receive the marchers, and other special activities that will be included in the event, including setting up a large writing board where marchers can express in writing and drawing, their support for life in Israeli society, and dialogue, tolerance and closeness in our lives. The Gilboa March combines physical activity with landscapes and nature that is in all its beauty and blossom in the Harod Valley and the Issachar Plateau, and will take place on 1.4.2022 – 2.4.2022 (Fridays and Saturdays).
This year, for the first time, it will be possible to purchase entrance tickets in advance, which allows thousands of marchers, from Israel and abroad, to ensure their participation now. Purchase tickets online 6 km; Folk route – 10 km; international route for residents and guests – 20 km every day.
Oved Nur: “There is no better way than this to receive the spring blossom. It is a special privilege to invite the people of Israel, to join us in a celebration in nature of 100 years of life together, and certainly after a two-year hike, which created a thirst for nature and community in particular.” Nur adds that “together we will mark the beginning of the flowering season, and there is nothing like the view from Gilboa to expand a person’s heart.
The Gilboa March is considered a beloved and well-known folk sport since it began in 1966. It is the only international march in the country, which has become a magnet for families and individuals from all over the country, thanks to the spectacular hiking trails (varying degrees of difficulty), overlooking the rare natural treasures of Harod Valley.
The gathering for the march is in the Maayan-Harod National Park, and from there free shuttles departed for the routes. Alongside the trails (and at the end point), visitors will enjoy a variety of attractions and experiences for the whole family, activities for children (including a show for the whole family), art workshops from natural materials, and food stalls and more. In Maayan-Harod, the graduation ceremony will also be held with the participation of the head of the Gilboa Museum, and will include a spectacular skydiving show.

Price: 40 NIS per participant (from age 3), 30 NIS for organized groups, 25 NIS for Gilboa residents. Each participant who completes the route will receive a medal and trophies will be distributed to groups.
