At around 10:30 PM, a call was received at the District Control Center about the burning of a building at 13 Hahamisha Street, Jerusalem. Firefighters and rescue workers rushed to the scene found a fire spreading in a warehouse in a five-story residential building. Firefighters immediately began firefighting and searching for trapped people, during which they learned that the building was inhabited by Rabbi Berland who fled with the other occupants of the building to the upper floors so that they would not be harmed by the heavy smoke that spread in the building. A tenant who was trapped was rescued by the fighters unscathed. The fire was recently brought under control.
