Head coach Stephen Fleming has said that Mahendra Singh Dhoni spoke to him about the Chennai Super Kings captaincy last IPL season.
Dhoni handed over the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings to Ravindra Jadeja last Thursday. Jadeja’s Chennai lost by 6 wickets to Kolkata Knight Riders in the first match on Saturday.

Following this, head coach Stephen Fleming met with reporters. He then explained that Dhoni had stepped down as captain.
Fleming said:
“We talked about the captaincy responsibility. Dhoni spoke to me during the last IPL season. But the timing was decided by Dhoni. The team informed Srinivasan about it. We talked about it 100 per cent.
