The Delhi Capitals beat the Mumbai Indians by 4 wickets in the league match of the IPL today in Mumbai thanks to Akshar Patel’s batting performance and Lalit Yadav’s charge.
Batting first, Mumbai Indians added 177 runs for the loss of 5 wickets at the end of 20 overs. Chasing a tough target of 178, the Delhi Capitals lost 6 wickets with 10 balls to spare and won by 179 runs with 4 wickets in hand. The Man of the Match award was given to Kuldeep Yadav who took 3 wickets.
If the Delhi team’s bowling was their property, then the Mumbai team’s bowling was even worse. In addition, Bumra and Sams became philanthropists. Bumrah and Sams are not the only ones who have contributed to the success of the Delhi team. The duo bowled 7.2 overs and scored 100 runs.
At one point the game was in Mumbai’s hands. Prithviraj Shah and Lalit Yadav combined for the 4th wicket to lift the odds. In the Powerplay, Delhi lost 3 wickets and scored only 46 runs. Prithvisha added 38 runs (2 sixes, 4 fours) while Basil Thampi lost the wicket in the bowling.
The next Roman Powell (0) bowled out Basil’s brother without adding a run. Shardul Thakur struck 22 runs, including 4 fours, before being bowled out by Basil Thampi.
Lalit Yadav and Akshar Patel teamed up for the 7th wicket to lead the team to victory. Akshar Patel hit 38 off 17 balls (3 sixes, 2 fours) and Lalit Yadav hit 48 off 38 balls (4 fours, 2 sixes) to lead the team to victory.
In the last 6 overs, Delhi needed 36 runs to win. Akshar Patel hit 15 off 15 overs in the 15th over off Bumra. The 18th over thrown by Sams was a turning point for the Delhi team. Lalith and Akshar both smashed and hit sixes and fours.
In the 18th over, Akshar Patel hit two sixes and Lalith a six, while Vlasi added 24 runs for the loss of four wickets. With 4 runs needed in the last 2 overs, Lalit secured the victory by hitting a four off Pumra’s bowling. Basil Thampi took 3 wickets for 35 runs and Murugan Aswin took 2 wickets.
Mumbai opener Ishant Kishan has been ruled out. Ishant Kishan was unbeaten on 81 off 48 balls (2 sixes, 11 fours). Rohit Sharma was unbeaten on 41 off 32 balls. Rohit Sharma and Kishan were all out for 67 for the first wicket. In the Powerplay, Mumbai team added 53 runs without losing a wicket.
