Corona hindered the love life of young people, now catching up feels ‘uncomfortable’

Due to the crisis, more people entered into a relationship and corona relationships arose. That had different effects. For example, many young people were on each other’s lips, causing the relationship to deteriorate, but some also found depth that made the relationship last. The research shows: “Because of corona, they spent more time together than under normal circumstances. This created more space to get to know each other and engage in profound conversations. Being together brought more intimacy.”

Exciting

Now that most measures have been abolished, there are again opportunities for young people. They describe it as “uncomfortable” and “exciting” to get back to their dating life. Stress is also mentioned because of the fear of missing out on experiences, the researchers describe. “The social pressure of parties every weekend is great for them.”

In the study, Rutgers and Soa Aids Nederland compared questionnaires from young people between the ages of 16 and 24. They completed the lists on three occasions, the researchers received more than ten thousand. In addition, they spoke at length to 44 young people. These experiences were also included in the study.
